Update to Overflow School Designation for Grade 7 to Grade 9 Regular Program Students Residing in Skyview Ranch
Dr. Gordon Higgins School has reached its capacity and will be unable to accommodate any additional Skyview Ranch students overflowed from Prairie Sky School. Ernest Morrow School will now serve as a second overflow school for Grade 7 to Grade 9 Prairie Sky School students to accommodate ongoing enrolment growth in the Skyview Ranch community for the 2023-24 school year and beyond. Effective immediately, all new Grade 7 to 9 Skyview Ranch registrations for Prairie Sky School that cannot be accommodated at Prairie Sky School or the first overflow, Dr. Gordon Higgins School, including new registrations in SchoolEngage, will be overflowed to Ernest Morrow School.
For the 2024-25 school year, Ernest Morrow School will serve as the only overflow school for Grade 7 to Grade 9 Skyview Ranch students. Please see the notice for more information.
Overflow School Designation for New Grade 7 to Grade 9 Regular Program Students Residing in Cornerstone
Due to continued enrolment growth at Terry Fox School, the school has reached its capacity and will be unable to accommodate additional students who reside in the Cornerstone community for the 2023-24 school year and beyond. Effective immediately, all new Grade 7 to 9 living in the Cornerstone community designated to Terry Fox School who cannot be accommodated at Terry Fox School will be overflowed to Ian Bazalgette School or Ernest Morrow School. Ernest Morrow School will serve as a secondary overflow location for the 2023-24 school year. Ian Bazalgette School is anticipated to have sufficient space to accommodate all Cornerstone students overflowed from Terry Fox School for the 2024-25 school year. Students from the Cornerstone community may transfer to Ian Bazalgette School or remain at Ernest Morrow School until they transition to high school.

Grade Configuration Changes at Ernest Morrow School
The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) will implement a grade configuration change at Patrick Airlie, Penbrooke Meadows, Radisson Park, James Short Memorial, G.W. Skene and Ernest Morrow Schools starting for the 2024-25 school year. These changes will help balance enrolment between schools in the Area and allow more students to attend school closer to home. Ernest Morrow School will change from a Grade 6 to 9 school to a Grade 7 to 9 school in the 2024-25 school year. The specialized setting classes at Ernest Morrow School will align with the grade configuration changes.

Learning to Fit Each Student's Needs and Interests
Alternative programs provide a distinct educational experience by focusing on specific subjects or languages and engaging students with advanced learning methods or in unique classroom environments. These programs are designed to personalize education to meet students' learning needs and goals. Additionally, some alternative programs may be more flexible regarding schedule or structure, giving students greater control over their learning. Parental involvement is highly encouraged through activities such as parent-teacher conferences and school events.

We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to non-Canadian students who are eager to embark on an enriching educational journey with us. Our schools are welcoming, caring, respectful and safe environments where students will learn, make new friends, and discover their talents and interests. Students who are not Canadian citizens must register through CBE Welcome Centre, even if they have attended school elsewhere in Canada.

Gather Your Documents
You will need to submit copies of the following documents to complete the registration process:

- Guardian ID
Start Online Process
Registration is done through our online registration system (SchoolEngage).
Start RegistrationWait for Confirmation
Your student will be accepted or placed on a waiting list at one of your school choices. We’ll let you know via email. Ensure all your documents are submitted to be automatically enrolled at your school of placement.
Transferring Between CBE Schools
At the CBE, when you are transitioning from elementary to middle school, or from middle school to high school, you will be automatically registered at your designated school according to your home address. To find out what your designated school is, use our Find a School tool. If you are interested in attending a school other than your designated school, visit CBE'sTransfers page for transfer information. Please note that some schools are quite full and not able to accept all transfer requests.
