Dear EMS Families,

As we head into the final week of classes, I would like to recognize our Grade 9 teaching team for their outstanding work over the past several weeks. In addition to supporting students through Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs), they have been thoughtfully planning our Grade 9 Farewell celebration. Their commitment to ensuring students feel supported, recognized, and celebrated as they close this chapter of their educational journey is greatly appreciated.

A reminder to Grade 9 families that students still have two remaining PATs next week, taking place on Monday and Tuesday. We encourage students to arrive on time, well-rested, and prepared for these final assessments.

Additional Teaching Staff for 2026-2027

I am pleased to share that Ernest Morrow School has been allocated two additional teaching positions for the 2026-2027 school year through the Government of Alberta's Class Size Reduction Grant.

This funding is intended to support improved learning conditions by helping schools reduce class sizes in core subject areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The allocation of these positions was determined using system-wide data, including projected enrolment, class organization, school programming, and the number of classes exceeding provincial class size benchmarks.

These additional teaching positions will help Ernest Morrow continue to provide strong learning environments where students benefit from increased teacher attention, improved classroom learning conditions, and greater support for diverse learning needs. We are grateful for this investment in our students and look forward to the positive impact it will have on teaching and learning at EMS.

Looking Ahead to 2026-2027

Information about the 2026-2027 school year has now been posted on the Ernest Morrow School website's Back to School page. Families are encouraged to visit the page for important information about school start-up, office hours, and the first day of classes.

Grade 7 and Grade 8 families should also watch for an important communication early next week regarding timetabling for the 2026-2027 school year. This update will provide additional information about our timetable structure and what students can expect next year.

As the school year comes to a close, please note that Friday, June 26, will be the last day of classes for students. We are looking forward to a positive and memorable final week together.
