Thank you to all the families who attended our ‘CommuniTea’ Indigenous Family Night. It was such a great evening!
Here is an update from our organizer – Lindsey Hart
Thank you so much to the people who helped throughout the evening and the staff and students who were able to stay and sweat it out over hot pans of oil and meat to make AMAZING frybread tacos and all the fixings for our HUGE family turnout. (Almost 100 people!!)
Our kids were so proud to have their families there to witness our beautiful, ridiculous, imperfect, vibrant community they spend their days. They were proud to introduce us to their parents and them to us! We had many smiling students, some of whom often struggle during their regularly scheduled school days.
Pearl White Quills and Catie Kemp were the masterminds in the kitchen and then came out and sang for us while families enjoyed the food that they made with our staff and students. The families were so touched by how we care for their kids and they felt welcomed by us.
And of course, Elders Frank and Trina Turning Robe and their son Darcy made the evening come together in the very best way. Frank spoke with compassion for our community and the work we do here. “I choose to bring good energy to Creator’s world today”
