Water Main Line Repair
The City will be replacing water main lines on 8th Ave SE and this will be impacting the East Calgary Regional Health Centre (AHS) and Clifton House. The AHS facility will have alternate parking lot access from 44 St SE towards the rear of their facility. This may have some increased traffic in the back-alley way. They have asked that we limit foot traffic. Students are asked not to use the back-alley during construction. There will be barricades and signage to help guide foot traffic.
Busing Updates
Transportation Eligibility and Walk Zones
Transportation eligibility distance and how it is calculated is changing will now be measured by driving distance instead of walking distance. That means next year, more students will become eligible to take the bus and school walk zones will look different.
To find a school’s walk zone map, visit CBE’s Find a School Tool and follow these instructions:
- Type in a home address or search by school in the drop-down menu.
- Choose a program under Program Options.
- Click on the grade(s).
- Below the map, in the “Programs” column, click on the grade/program for the school.
- This will display the walk zone for the school/program.
- Note: only one walk zone can be displayed at a time.
To learn more about transportation eligibility and walk zones read the Walk Zone news story.
Transportation Registration is Now Open
Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2025-26 school year using their MyCBE account.
Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
CBE Transportation will continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before those students are able to ride the bus.
Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.
Bell Schedule Change for 2025-2026
On April 8, you received the email below from the CBE indicating the changing bell times for Ernest Morrow due to expanding yellow bus services.
Dear CBE families,
Next year, the CBE will be expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones. This is in response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025. This means many more students will become eligible to take the bus.
When changes are made to yellow bus transportation, it has an impact on bell times for schools. That’s because bell times are directly connected to transportation. Aligning bell times across schools makes transportation more efficient, allowing each bus to run multiple routes. This creates a reliable transportation system, ensuring students get to school safely, on time and ready to learn.
For the 2025-26 school year, bell times for Ernest Morrow School are 9:05 a.m. – 3:31 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday early dismissal is at 1:00 p.m.
If your child is attending a different CBE school for the 2025-26 school year, please visit the website Bell Times to find that school’s bell times.
Bell times were reviewed across the system to ensure students receive the required instructional hours while maintaining time for breaks like lunch and recess, transitions between classes and extracurricular opportunities.
To help support reliable transportation service, we are making a few other changes next year. With the growth in population in Calgary, we continue to work with our service providers and Calgary Transit to support our growing ridership. We are adjusting route scheduling to account for increased traffic so yellow school buses have a few more minutes to reach their destination. Finally, walk zones are being adjusted to align with provincial direction.
In early May, we will be sharing more information about eligibility for transportation, the walk zone at your child’s school and information on transportation registration.
Please visit our Questions and Answers page for detailed information about the bell time changes.
We recognize these changes will mean adjustments to your family’s schedule. Our goal is to support you through these transitions.
