Hello EMS Families
It has been another busy and positive week at Ernest Morrow School! As we continue to settle into the school year, I want to take a moment to recognize some of the great work happening throughout our school.
Celebrating Our Coaches
A huge thank you to our soccer and basketball coaches for the time, energy, and commitment they are giving to our students.
Our coaches do much more than organize practices and games. They create opportunities for students to:
- Build confidence
- Develop teamwork
- Learn how to handle challenges
- Feel connected to our school community
We appreciate the time our coaches give before and after school, as well as their commitment to making athletics a positive experience for our students.
Thank you to all of our coaches for the great work you are doing and for helping our students grow both on and off the court and field!
Grade 9 Team Collaboration
I also want to highlight the collaborative work happening within our Grade 9 team.
Our Grade 9 staff continue to work closely together to support students academically, socially, and behaviourally. The team's willingness to communicate, share information, problem-solve together, and look at the needs of individual students is making a positive difference.
This kind of collaboration is an important part of creating a consistent and supportive experience for our students.
Thank you to our Grade 9 team for the care, flexibility, and teamwork you are demonstrating each day. It is great to see staff working together with a shared focus on supporting our students and helping them be successful.
Orange Shirt Day — Tuesday, September 29
On Tuesday, September 29, we will recognize Orange Shirt Day.
This is an opportunity for our school community to come together to recognize the history and ongoing legacy of residential schools and to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors, and their families.
We encourage students and staff to wear orange as we take time to learn, reflect, listen, and continue our work toward reconciliation.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation — Wednesday, September 30
There will be no school on Wednesday, September 30, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We encourage families to use this day as an opportunity to learn more about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools and to reflect on the importance of reconciliation.
