Hello Parents and Guardians,

We had a great turnout last night for our meet the teacher evening.  It was a privilege to meet many families face to face and definitely the highlight of my week. It seems like our weeks are moving quickly with various activities taking place at the school. The boys won their last soccer game, basketball teams have been picked and all students participated in the Terry Fox Run!

Orange Shirt Day

"Orange Shirt Day is on September 30 annually. It began in 2013 when residential school survivor Phyllis Webstad shared how her orange shirt was taken away on her first day at residential school. This story is an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on history, legacy and implications, to discuss stories of survival and strength and to share ways we can work together toward truth and reconciliation." It is also an opportunity to commit to commemorating the children who attended residential schools, recognizing their experiences, honoring them and sharing a collective commitment to ensure that every child matters and that each student is welcome, safe, respected and cared for in their learning community every day." ~ CBE

We will be asking all staff and students at Ernest Morrow School, wear their Orange Shirts on Thursday, the 28th of September to show our collective commitment to ensure that every child matters and that each student is safe, respected, welcome and cared for in their learning community.

Reminders

Drinks at School

We ask that students do not bring open drinks such as slurpees or pop cans into the building. Drinks with lids are welcome.

Cell Phones

Students are expected to keep cell phones at home, in their backpack or in their locker.  Our young people are at an age where they can be easily distracted by many things during the day and especially their social media. 

Breakfast

Breakfast is served from 8:00 – 8:23 each morning.  School opens for all students at 8:15

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:

• Demographic Verification – 2023-24 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
• Citizenship Information Update – 2023-24– This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
• Annual Authorization – 2023-24– This form provides consent for school and district use of personal information.

Should your student have a medical concern, please come into the office to fill out a Student Health Plan or an Emergency Response Form.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer, to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

1 | sign in to your MyCBE account
2 | click on the SchoolEngage icon
3 | select the form
4 | complete or review and update the form
5 | click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
6 | repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Friday, September 22. Please get these in ASAP. If you need support, please call the school at 403-777-7800.
